Broken Wall

Last night, as I slept,
I dreamt there was a great wall before me.

I hadn’t the strength to climb over,
Nor the wings to carry me.

I took a seat on the ground,
And I looked at the wall.

I had spent all my life on this side,
It was good, but not everything.

My destination,
Was everything.

As I pictured this everything,
Clear in my minds eye,

A fissure cleaved down the wall,
from pinnacle to base.

The gap grew,
Wide enough for any to pass.

When I stood from my seat,
I saw I was not alone.

Another sat opposite me,
With wanderlust in their eyes.
